iKURE Can Fix Your Cracked iPhone Screen on Long Island
Are you in need of a cracked iPhone repair on Long Island? Cracked iPhone screens have plagued owners ever since the first generation iPhone came out in June of 2007 all the way to the latest release of the iPhone 7. While sometimes just aesthetically unappealing, a cracked iPhone screen can take away a great deal of functionality from your device as it is the main interface you interact with to access your phone and applications. iKURE is going to look into why iPhone screens tend to crack in regular settings, what you can do to prevent these occurrences and what to do if your screen does happen to crack.
How Long Does It Take To Repair An iPhone With A Cracked Screen?
It takes generally about 15-20 minutes.
I Already Paid For A New Screen, Can You Install It For Me?
Yes, we charge a $50 flat fee for the hour of labor. However, we cannot warranty a part that is not ours.
What If I Tried Replacing The Screen Myself And Now It’s Semi Unassembled. Can You Finish The Repair?
Do You Offer A Warranty On Screen Repair Services?
90-day warranty on functionality and performance. Unfortunately, this does not cover cracking.
How Does A Cracked iPhone Screen Happen?
People are often amazed at how easy an iPhone screen can crack under the most normal of circumstances. When you look at the physics behind a typical fall, though, the picture becomes clearer. A typical drop would probably happen at standing viewing height, so for all intents and purposes let’s say that’s about 4 ft high. When you drop the phone the force of gravity accelerates the speed at which the phone falls at a rate of 32.2 ft/sec2. The phone falls to the ground in .5 seconds from our proposed viewing height and right before it hits the floor it has a theoretical velocity of about 16 ft/sec or 11 mph.
Now this speed wouldn’t seem like enough to crack the glass of your iPhone until you factor in the reality of the irregular surface the iPhone is falling on or the manner in which your device falls. If your iPhone hits a pebble on the ground or falls on one of its corners the resulting force applied to the iPhone (due to Newton’s Second Law of equal and opposite forces) is concentrated in one small area. The formula for pressure is force divided by area, thus the smaller the area of force the more pressure is applied to the phone; the more pressure applied the greater the likelihood of a crack forming on your iPhone screen.
How Can You Prevent Cracked iPhone Screens?
The most obvious answer to the cracked screen dilemma is to simply be more careful with your device. It won’t have a chance to break if there’s no initial pressure applied to it, but this is definitely easier said than done. We’re well aware that life happens, so there has to be a better solution than just “be safe.” Another option is to get a case for your iPhone. Popular brands of cases for iPhones are Otter Box, LifeProof and Speck, although there are literally hundreds of cases available online. Cases provide a layer of protection from the elements and some provide your iPhone with the added benefit of being shockproof. This provides the max amount of protection for your phone for the reality that it will sometimes have an unfortunate fall.
